During many Texans on Mission deployments, members of a little-known — because they usually operate at night — team ensures equipment and volunteers stay guarded while the larger team sleeps.

Employing both personal patrols and electronic surveillance, the Asset Protection team is keeping watch over volunteers and assets in Fritch during the Panhandle fires response.

Asset Protection team member Steve Holley (far side), a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Greenville, is on his first deployment. He said he volunteered for the team because he saw a need he could fill “and an opportunity to serve.”

Daryl Daulong, of the SSS Cowboy Church of Palestine, said he chose the group “because, I consider the people as the number one asset, and then the equipment.

“I want to make sure that everybody that came here is safe.”
